The first domain name has 25 years

25 years ago, March 15, 1985, the first domain name was registered, it is symbolics.com! A company that marketed computers specially designed to run the Lisp programming language. But this was not the rush for domain names that year, or even the next, since only five names were filed in 1985 against 54 in 1986. Today, there are several hundreds of thousands of domain names which are registered or renewed a month! For the record, Apple has filed its own domain name early as 1987, while Microsoft has done in 1991. Here you will find a list of first 100 domain names.

Opera 10.50 available for download, Mac and Linux versions announced

Finally: the final version of Opera 10.50 on Windows is available for download. Self-proclaimed “fastest Web browser in the world”, Opera offers this version with a brand new interface, a private browsing mode, compatibility with existing Aero Glass, Aero Peek and Jump Lists technologies (Vista and 7 only).
Note that the browser is available for Windows in 42 languages, and that Mac and Linux versions should no longer delay to be available too. You can download the the final version of the Web browser here.
